Screen Style explores the portrayal of femininity in media, highlighting iconic characters and elements from movies and TV shows that have had an impact on generations. Throughout the years I noticed how the media has represented female characters through negative stereotypes like obsessed with shopping, enamored with the color pink, ditzy and boy crazy. Yet these characters possess a dreamy, aspirational quality that makes us want to mirror their style.
Movies have a great influence on fashion, leading to trends that can last for years. The visibility fashion brands can obtain through cinematic promotions can lead to a powerful desire in audiences to own the same glamorous designer items worn by favorite characters. This yearning fuels our hunger to adopt the lifestyles played on screens, motivating many to mimic the fabulous looks of the characters living amazing lives.
Digital ver. Red is a bold, passionate color that often symbolizes strength but can also evoke anger or danger. It is a color that commands attention and stimulates emotions. On the other hand, white, can represent innocence, purity and simplicity, creating a neutral base that provides contrast and balance to a design. Black, a powerful, sophisticated color adds a polished complete look that’s bold and attention grabbing

Digital ver. Pink, often considered as a “girly” or feminine color associated with love and youth, was ironically considered a “boy” color in the 19th century. Blue, now seen as a “boy” color, signifies calmness and trustworthiness. The evolution of these colors as gender identifiers is interesting with many men avoiding certain shades of pink because of its association with femininity while women embrace both colors, with blue being a staple in gender-neutral fashion like jeans.
